A Divine Clone is created when the creator of a Divine Spark decides not to fuse with it, in order to keep studying the Profound Laws of other ways, and lets it hover outside of the body for a time.
Creating a Divine Clone allows one to keep studying the ways of other Profound Laws while at the same time the Divine Clone can keep on gaining insights into the specific Profound Law its Divine Spark was based on. In Linley's case, his first Divine Clone was created form a Wind-style Divine Spark, which made it so that it coulnd only progress on that specific path.
The major downside of creating Divine Clones is that it will tear one's original soul in two parts as one half will remain inside the original normal body, whereas the other half will go into the clone's divine body. This proces severely weakens one's soul[1].
